I just read this nice PDF about a way to use other servers as memory providers for HANA (among other uses).
I for one am more likely to test KSM (Kernel Samepage Merging) in order to preserve memory in my memory restricted PC to setup a VM with HANA for testing purposes, but the fact remains it is an interesting way to scale out the memory requirements to cheap x86 hardware: just fill up some old servers with all the excess RAM you have and go
